Sixth Form Enrichment

Fieldwork and Visits
In the Sixth Form there are many opportunities to become involved in learning outside of the classroom. Many departments organise trips which are related to A-Level and BTEC work. For example there is an upcoming trip to Rome for the Philosophy and Ethics group, in which key theories will be examined from their place of origin. Active learning such as this is encouraged for Sixth Form students and provides additional understanding for exams and coursework.

Sporting Activities
The Sixth Form are represented to a high level at many sports including Football, Netball, Rugby, Hockey, Badminton, Basketball, Swimming, Golf and Tennis. The Sixth Form football team are the current county champions and many of our athletes go onto represent their county. We have a specific partnership programme with Cheltenham Rugby club for our most talented players, and Cleeve School is now established as the Centre of Excellence for the Cheltenham area. The Rugby and Netball team have just returned from a life changing tour to South Africa in which both teams had notable success.

Outward Bound
The Sixth Form has a long tradition of involvement with the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme. Participation in this scheme has significant benefits for all of those who enrol and we actively encourage our students to pursue this worthwhile activity.

The Arts
As mentioned previously there are numerous opportunities to enjoy and develop in Arts based activities. Students can arrange to have private music lessons in school through the Music department and the cost is greatly subsidised. Tuition is carried out by experienced teachers and musical instruments may be hired from the county.

Debating
Public speaking and debating are activities which develop confidence and self-awareness. The Sixth Form has recently started up a debating society which be linked into the Building Leaders Programme. Having the opportunity to discuss and debate key issues which are relevant to students will also improve their analytical skills ready for coursework and exams.

Enterprise
For students who are keen to learn more about business, the RE department runs the ‘FairTraders’ as an Enterprise initiative. As well as this Business Studies department allow students in their Double BTEC group to run their own business throughout the year, allowing them to also develop key life skills.

Environmental Awareness
Sixth Form students are part of a Student Management Team who are currently analysing the school’s energy efficiency. After receiving full training the team will be making recommendations to the school to make further improvements to our energy efficiency.

Leadership Roles
There are many leadership roles within the Sixth Form which are an excellent addition to any student’s CV. You can become a sports captain, mentor a younger student, facilitate in the running of one of our houses or become a Senior Student. Senior students are the representative body of the Sixth Form and have a large involvement in the running of the Sixth Form.

Wednesday Afternoon Enrichment
Wednesday afternoons are specifically used for enrichment activities. There are a multitude of enrichment activities taking place in school, or students have the option to take part in enrichment activities outside of school. This means that whatever your area of interest, you will be given time to develop this as a counterbalance to your academic studies.
