Cleeve School

Message From The Head Teacher

“Raising Aspiration Raising Achievement” is fundamental to Cleeve’s success. The School continues to be recognised for its high level of academic performance, featuring in the list of top secondary schools in the country. I believe that the key to our success is the commitment and enthusiasm shown by staff, pupils and parents to all aspects of school life. This success has been formally recognised through Ofsted’s judgement of the school as ‘Outstanding’ in 2007 and by being recognised by the Challenge Award assessors for the excellence of our provision for gifted and talented pupils in the same year.

Examination results are consistently excellent, with over 80% of Year 11 pupils gaining 5 or more GCSE passes at Grade C or above last year. The hallmark of our success is that we strive to ensure the very best for each individual pupil. Pupils at all levels do well, with able pupils achieving high grades and progressing to Oxford, Cambridge and other universities.

We achieve our success through very good teaching, appropriate to the needs of our pupils. Setting in individual subjects, accelerated learning, individual support and an exciting range of subjects all play their part. Beyond the school day, pupils have opportunities to participate in a wide range of enrichment activities. The school has a strong tradition of music, art, drama and sports, in addition to running a hugely popular and highly successful Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme.

Cleeve School is a triple Specialist College for Technology, Languages and Leadership; one of a very small number of schools nationally to achieve triple status. We take pride in the fact that we are able to use these specialisms to provide excellence right across the school curriculum. We strive to ensure our pupils aspire to take their place in the global economy and as such we have a strong international dimension with trips to Iceland, South Africa, USA, China and a number of European countries. We currently offer students the opportunity to study several languages; Mandarin, French, Russian, Spanish and a little Arabic are on offer.

We are at the forefront of developments in teaching and learning; our reputation has been confirmed nationally through The Microsoft Award and a Ramesys/T.E.S. Award for sharing good practice through ICT. The Specialist Schools Trust has recognised our achievements and awarded us with prizes for our high examination results, our excellent value added performance and our excellence in the Arts has been recognised through our Artsmark status.

Cleeve School is a vibrant, exciting, challenging environment in which excellence is always sought. The opportunities and education we provide will prepare your child in the best possible way for the future.

I am confident that when you have seen us you will want your child to become a part of Cleeve’s continuing success.
