Message From The Head Teacher

Dear Parents,

Cleeve is a unique educational environment.  It is a place where we have committed ourselves to the vision of Raising Achievement, Raising Aspirations and Enriching Partnerships.  It is through this that we create a focus on student success.  The school has built a reputation at a local and national level for the quality of its work, from developing teaching and learning to the extra-curricular opportunities, particularly in Sport, Music, Art and Drama.

The academic achievement speaks for itself. Year on year the school continues to be at the top of the county league tables.  In 2009 83% of Year 11 students achieved 5 or more A* to C grades at GCSE. 70% of students achieving this benchmark, including English and Maths, significantly above the national average.  In the Sixth Form our students achieved an overall pass rate of 99.5% with 45% of these grades being at A or B.

There is no doubt that the achievement of our students is built upon the partnership between students, parents and staff.  As a school we set high standards for everything we do and I know you will want to support this process as we work towards developing the successful citizens of our future.  Through the quality of the teaching and learning, the student support, the investment in the physical environment and commitment to extra-curricular activities we create the building blocks of success.

The school has chosen to place itself at the forefront of educational development.  This can be seen through our three specialisms, the focus on developing learning environments and a commitment for Cleeve to be inclusive, with unique ways to help all students continue their learning.  We want to continue to create the opportunities for all to succeed.

As a school, we recognise the importance of the global dimension and the need to prepare our students with the cross cultural competency skills to take their place in an ever changing global economy.  The links we have with a number of countries are a big part of this and create opportunities for students to experience this first hand.

Through partnership we continue to enhance and strengthen the success of Cleeve School.  I am looking forward to continuing this process with you.
