HOMEWORK

HOMEWORK - Homework plays a key role in students’ learning cycle, particularly in building memory capacity.  To this end, homework at Cleeve School is underpinned by Student Knowledge Goals in Key Stage 3 (and where applicable in Key Stage 4) and Personal Learning Checklists in KS4 and KS5.  Equally, we place a particular emphasis on flipped learning so that homework tasks are specific and related to classroom learning and knowledge retrieval.   All Homework is set on Satchel One (Show My Homework).

When

Students will be given a minimum of 1 week to do the Homework – see below. Issue and submission day is co-ordinated by each department.  Students are given a minimum of 1 week to do the Homework. Issue and submission day is co-ordinated by each department.

We aim to gradually increase resilience, independence and ownership of learning as students progress through their learning journey at Cleeve.  By the time they leave us in Year 11 or 13, they need to be able to plan and manage their own time, learning and revision effectively.  These skills needs to be more guided and supported in the early years and the planner below seeks to help KS3 students by suggesting how they can organise their week.  Departments will give at least a week for any homework to be done and submitted, as the planner below is not based on students’ lesson timetable; it suggests ‘which evening students focus on each subject’ as opposed to ‘when the class teacher sets it’.
