WELLBEING

Wellbeing at Cleeve

At Cleeve School, supporting the mental health and wellbeing of our students is a central part of the care we provide every day. We understand that young people face a wide range of challenges, and we are committed to ensuring that every student feels safe, supported and able to thrive both emotionally and academically.

We are proud to have two dedicated Mental Health Leads, Mrs Clark (KS3) and Ms Smith (KS4/5), who oversee the wellbeing provision across the school. Our fantastic pastoral team have regular and ongoing CPD to understand and recognise mental health and how to support our students. Every year group has a dedicated Head of Learning and Student Support Leader, as well as an Assistant Head who has leadership oversight. In addition, we have school‑based counsellors, within Talk Well and Gloucestershire Counselling service, who offer regular support sessions for students who may benefit from talking to a trained professional within the school environment.

Cleeve School also works closely with a wide network of external organisations who provide specialist support. These include (but are not limited to):

Young Minds Matter (YMM), Talk Well, Young Gloucestershire, Young Carers, STREET Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire Counselling Services, our Chaplaincy team, the School Nurse, The Children’s Society, the Youth Support Team, Stablemates, and many others.

Our strong partnerships mean we can help families access the most appropriate advice, guidance and intervention quickly and effectively.

If you have concerns that your child may be struggling with their mental health or wellbeing, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us. We are here to listen, to help, and to guide you towards the right support for your child. We also encourage parents/ guardians to make use of the excellent resources available on the Young Minds website, which provides practical toolkits and advice on how to talk to your child about their mental health.

Alongside our dedicated pastoral and counselling support, we also prioritise mental health through our wider school curriculum and daily school life. Our Life Skills provision includes regular lessons focused on emotional literacy, resilience, healthy relationships and coping strategies, ensuring students develop the tools they need to navigate challenges confidently. Throughout the year, we also deliver assemblies and enrichment days centred on wellbeing themes, giving students meaningful opportunities to reflect, learn and engage with positive mental health practices. These whole-school initiatives help create a culture where mental health is openly discussed, understood and supported.
