TransitionS FOR NEW STUDENTS IN SEPTEMBER 2023

Welcome to Cleeve School and Sixth Form Centre of Excellence; we are absolutely delighted that your child will be joining us in September.

We understand that you may have questions about your child's transition from Primary to Secondary School.  Please know that we will do everything we can to allay any concerns whilst ensuring that your child is happy, settled and learning at our school.  We work hard to ensure that your child feels comfortable and confident when they join us as we fully understand that new students need to feel a sense of belonging and connection. The Year 6 students who are joining us in September are extremely important to us, and we will do all we can to ensure that transition processes and experiences both this school year and in September, are as positive as possible.

TRANSITIONS PROGRAMME 2023

22 MAY:  Transition Pack 1

Your Secondary School transition pack will be sent home prior to May half term.  These are despatched through our local primary schools or sent directly to your home address by post.  Your pack will include an Application Form to be completed and returned to us by 30th June.  It will also include a link to our Student Guidebook which will help you and your child to prepare for the start of school.

MID-JUNE:  Transition Pack 2

This will include important information about how to set-up digital accounts for your child, including school dinners, our electronic payment system and how to access useful items like locker bookings prior to September.  Transition Pack 2 will be distributed by email.

30 JUNE:  Deadline for the return of your Application Form.

Guidance on how to complete the form can be found here.

3 & 4 JULY:  Induction Days

Your child will be invited to Cleeve School for two days to join our current Year 7 students.  They will have an opportunity to meet other students within their Tutor Group and College, and to experience some lessons within core departments.  Students should arrive at the main entrance at Cleeve School at 9.00am on Monday 3rd July.  The day will end at 2.45pm. We ask that all students make their own transport arrangements to and from school.  Students should wear their primary school uniform and bring a packed lunch and drink with them.  Students should also wear trainers/sports footwear on both days.

3 JULY:  Parents Information Evening
All new parents are invited to join us at the Information Evening on Monday 3rd July from 5.00-7.00pm where you will be able to attend a presentation with our Head of School (KS3) and the Year 7 Team.  You will also have the opportunity to meet some of the Year 7 Tutors, Pastoral Team and other Year 7 parents/guardians.  Please note this event is split into two sessions according to your child's College as follows:
Attenborough & Holmes: 5.00-5.45pm
Nightingale, Rowling & Shackleton: 6.15-7.00pm

6 SEPTEMBER:  First day of school for Year 7 - Welcome!
The first few days of school are attended by only our Year 7 and Year 12 students.  This helps our new students have time to orientate the school site before the other students return later in the week.  We look forward to seeing you in September.
