WELCOME FROM THE EXECUTIVE HEAD
I am delighted to welcome you to Cleeve School.
This is an extremely exciting time to be joining our flourishing Cleeve community. We are a school that is rapidly moving from strength to strength, and our intention is to be one of the very best schools, not just in the local area, but beyond. We are very proudly a school for all, providing excellence for all, and as a core value we believe in creating daily transformational moments for our students, from their classroom experiences, to their personal development to a very broad range of enrichment opportunities.
We value academic success, and we expect many of our students to progress to some of the very best universities in the country. Equally, we also have excellent pathways to the best apprenticeships and training opportunities in our area, including within cyber and technology.
We strongly believe in enriching our students’ lives through a broad range of extra-curricular activities, trips and events, so that their school days are memorable, happy and formative, fully preparing them for the exciting world beyond school.
As a resource-rich school, we invest in more staff and therefore achieve smaller class sizes. What might appear as a large school on the outside, is shaped into much smaller communities within, and our College structure is a key part of this. As a Teacher Training Lead School, we place a very large value on developing our staff.
Our Pastoral Team is second to none and new students are supported by very strong pastoral structures including via a specialist Year 7 team.
Our state of the art Sixth Form Centre of Excellence acts as a beacon for some of the very best teachers around who, at a time of recruitment challenges within the profession, join us so that they can teach students from Year 7 through to pre-university in Year 13. From the moment they arrive, I want your children to aspire to be in our Sixth Form, proud of what they are achieving and inspired by the exciting curriculum journey through Key Stages 3 and 4 and feeling a sense of joy about educational opportunities.
Cleeve School has recently been selected as a pathfinding Cyber School Hub and designated as Cyber School of the Year at the National Cyber awards. As well as attracting significant funding, this means that we benefit from strong partnerships with Cyber Security organisations, including the National Cyber Security Centre. We are ‘charged’ with ensuring that we help to create future experts in such a relevant employment area. This is the kind of challenge that inspires us!
At Cleeve, we value Modern Foreign Languages and the Arts subjects, whilst also enjoying very strong reputations in Music, Drama and Dance. Within our main atrium, we have some of the very best Science resources in the country, and English and Mathematics mastery underpins our spinal curriculum throughout all year groups. We love what we do and we are very proud of what we offer because our size brings a huge choice of opportunities.
In terms of our GCSE results, they have never been better. This year, we took another significant step forward, and our A-Level results continue to be amongst the very best in the country. Over several years, our Key Stage 5 examination results have placed us in the top 10% nationally!
We are building something very special here at Cleeve and I want your child to be part of our exciting journey. Our mission is to create a school that is exceptional, which genuinely creates a sense of joy for learning, and our values of Aspiring, Collaborating and Transforming drive everything we do.
As a parent myself, I know how important the transfer process is between primary and secondary school, and we continue to review to ensure that this transition period is as supportive and helpful as possible. Each year we hold three Year 7 Induction Days during the summer term and a residential for all students to attend during their first academic year with us.
If you value high quality, broad opportunity and an ambitious vision for what education should be, with wellbeing and happiness at the centre of everything we do, then come and join our thriving family. I very much look forward to working with you in close partnership.
Yours sincerely
Alwyn Richards
